The Complete Reading Series: Training based on The Science of Reading
Knowledge of Reading and Good Instructional Practices Matter
The Complete Reading Series (The CRS) is sixty–five hour professional development training in structured literacy based on The Science of Reading. The six class titles are Early Literacy: Phonological / Phonemic Awareness, Focus on Phonics: Decoding and Encoding, Comprehension: Helping Students Remember What They Read, Words for the Wise: Morphology, Learning Disabilities that Interfere with Reading and Written Expression, and Understanding Dyslexia. THE CRS training is designed for administrators, teachers and parents.
The Complete Reading Series is supported and written based on scientific research from the National Reading Panel, the NICHD Education Research Program, Drs. Sally and Bennett Shaywitz, and the National Institute for Literacy. The CRS is aligned with the International Dyslexia Association’s Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading.
____ Early Literacy Development and Focus on Phonics must be taken before any other courses in the CRS.
