Early Literacy and Focus on Phonics should be taken first as prerequisites to Words for the Wise.

Words for the Wise is the fourth course in The Complete Reading Series. The course is designed to assist the classroom teacher in helping their students to develop higher level oral and written vocabulary skills. Higher level vocabulary skills can also improve comprehension skills development. Words for the Wise focuses on the Latin and Greek origins (etymology) of English words and will give teachers core etymological knowledge that they can use to teach Latin and Greek prefixes/suffixes and roots. Through a variety of activities and discussions, teachers will gain a deeper understanding  of how they can incorporate explicit study of Latin and Greek etymology into their respective curricula to support their students’ vocabulary development.   Words for the Wise content is most applicable for grades 3 – 12, but knowledge of Latin and Greek can begin as early as pre-school.

Please bring your CRS notebook and lunch.
