Educating Preschool Teachers with the highest quality of instruction is a priority for Georiga ETA. Georgia ETA understands that Preschool Teachers lay the foundation for learning. Our Early Childhood courses are designed to give the Preschool Teacher practical hands-on instructional activities and strategies driven by evidence based research in early literacy. Below you will find a brief description of each class. Each workshop is designed to meet the need of new and experienced teachers.

Childhood Development
Raising Well Adjusted Kids
Brenda will lead teachers in a lively discussion on how to encourage students to take responsibility for their choices, respect themselves and others so they will grow up to be healthy, well adjusted adults. Don’t miss this workshop!
Developmental Milestones: Normal and Atypical – Three (3) Contact Hours
This class will help teachers understand the nature and course of children’s development. Cognition, language, motor coordination, social interaction, and adaptive developmental milestones will be discussed.
The Importance of Play and Exercise – Three (3) Contact Hours
This class is designed to provide educators with the latest brain research on play and exercise, in regard to academic achievement, classroom behavior and emotional well-being. Strategies for implementations of activities will be discussed.
What Preschoolers Need to Know and Learn – Three (3) Contact Hours
There is a growing mindset that children should read, write, spell, master math concepts and know a foreign language before they graduate from preschool. Preschoolers are often expected to master skills way beyond their developmental abilities. The objective of this class is to examine the four domains and the development of each domain for emotional stability, social graces and academic and physical excellence.
Classroom Management
Creating and Managing Literacy Centers – Three (3) Contact Hours
Description: This course will assist teachers in the development and management of learning centers. Ideas for meaningful and purposeful activities for each center will be shared.
Effective Classroom Management- Three (3) Contact Hours
This class is designed to assist teachers in learning and implementing effective strategies for setting guidelines, communicating, and managing young children. Topics to be discussed: age appropriate guidelines, positive ways to communicate strategies to prevent behavior problems and age appropriate consequences.
Managing the Early Childhood Classroom – Three (3) Contact Hours
This course is designed to encourage the pre-k and kindergarten teacher in their efforts to provide the best possible learning environment for their students.Topics to be discussed : literacy centers, arranging and managing the physical setting of the classroom, transitional time, lesson planning, communicating with parents and peers.
Speech and Language
Preschool Language Disorders
This workshop is an overview of expressive and receptive language, the five language domains, and the disabilities that impede development including signs of dyslexia. This workshop is worth .5 CEUs.
Signing in the Classroom Pre-K – 1st Grade – Three (3) Contact Hours
This class is designed to provide teachers with basic skills for signing. Ideas for planning and implementing instructional ideas and activities using sign language will be shared.
Integrated Thematic Instruction
America the Beautiful – Three (3) Contact Hours
America the Beautiful is a social studies unit designed to expose teachers to innovatives ways help preschool and kindergarten students learn the National holidays and identify National symbols. Ideas, activities, music , art, and literature will assist teachers in producing instructionally sound and developmentally appropriate lesson plans for the classroom.
A’ Traveling We Will Go – Three (3) Contact Hours
This workshop offers teachers great ideas for introducing land, water, and air transportation to their students. Art, literature, and learning center games will be linked to each form of transportation.
Barnyard Buddies Three (3) Contact Hours
Help your students learn all about the farm through literature, art projects, learning center games, and music. Participants will even learn how to make a barn out of a washing machine box.
Beautiful Beginnings – Three (3) Contact Hours
This workshop will provide teachers with ideas and activities for the first three weeks of school. Suggestions will be given for developing and implementing weekly and monthy units that incorporate literacy, math, science and social studies. Teachers can help make the transition from home to school a happy one with learning activities for a social studies unit about friends and family and a science unit on trees.
Bugs, Bugs, Beautiful Bugs – Three (3) Contact Hours
Description: Help your students discover fascinating facts about the world of insects. This is a wonderful science workshop that offers ideas for art projects, edible art, learning center games, and music. Students love this one!
Creatures of the Sea – Three (3) Contact Hours
Description: Introduce your students to the joys and fascinations of the sea and the creatures who live there. This workshop is full of so many fun learning activities that you will want to pack your bags and head to the beach. This is a great way to end the school year!!!
Fabulous Fall – Three (3) Contact Hours
Description: This is a great way to kick off the autumn season. Fabulous Fall offers tons of super fun learning ideas for the month of October and November. You must see this one!
February Fun – Three (3) Contact Hours
Description: This workshop provides wonderful ideas and activities to celebrate and teach Groundhog Day, Valentine’s Day, and President’s Day.
Holidays Around the World – Three (3) Contact Hours
Description: Take a trip around the world to celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanza. This is a fun filled workshop to begin the holiday season.
Spectacular Spring – Three (3) Contact Hours
Description: Bring Spring alive in your classroom. This unit covers wind, planting, and a marvelous mini-unit entitled “Look What’s Hatching.” This workshop is a breath of fresh air for students and teachers.
This Place is a Jungle – Three (3) Contact Hours
Description: Guide your students on a learning journey to discover all about animals in the wild. Ideas on art projects, learning center games, and literature will be linked to each animal.
Wonderful Winter Wonderland – Three (3) Contact Hour
Description: Brighten up those long winter days following Christmas with songs, fingerplays, dramatic play, learning centers, and art. This thematic unit will help your students learn all about winter weather, snowmen, and hibernation.
Literacy
Early Literacy Development – Preparing Young Children for Success in School – Three (3) Contact Hours
Description:This class is designed to address the instructional needs and curriculum models necessary to create and implement a successful literacy program. Developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities for oral language, phonological awareness, print awareness, and alphabetic knowledge will be shared.
Fun with Books – Three (3) Contact Hours
Description: This class is designed to provide teachers with instructional literacy activities to incorporate popular children’s stories into each subject area.
Math
Making Math Count – Three (3) Contact Hours
Description: This course is designed to expose pre-k and kindergarten teachers to innovative ways to teach math concepts. Music, games, and make and take activities will assist them in producing instructionally sound plans for their classrooms.
March to Math – Three (3) Contact Hours
Description: This class is designed to provide preschool and kindergarten teachers with age appropriate activities to teach math concepts and skills.
Math with Manipulatives – Three (3) Contact Hours
Description: Teachers will leaves this course with a better sense of how to incorporate manipulatives into their classroom instruction.
Science

Description: This workshop provides educators with tons of fun learning ideas for teaching a unit all about Community Helpers.
