Early Literacy and Focus on Phonics should be taken as prerequisites to Understanding Dyslexia.
Understanding Dyslexia is an evidence-based research class designed to educate and empower administrators, teachers, and parents on Dyslexia. Content includes defining dyslexia, addressing the characteristics of dyslexia, addressing comorbid disorders that often occur with dyslexia, misconceptions about dyslexia, screeners, and evaluations to identify dyslexia, and effective remediations and accommodations for dyslexia. Brenda Fitzgerald’s area of expertise is Dyslexia. Georgia ETA encourages all schools to host Understanding Dyslexia.
